Summer programs are in-person. If this changes you will be notified. Registration is through Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation & Lacey Parks & Recreation Department. You do not have to be a resident of either city to register.
Let's Talk: TV Studio Production - Ages 8-11
July 11-15, 9:30 am -1:00 pm
Explore the fun and sometimes unpredictable nature of television news and talk shows. You can be the camera operator, run the audio board, or write the script. If you like the spotlight, be the host and interview a local personality. Work in a state-of-the-art TV studio with professional cameras, lighting, and even a green screen to make a news program and talk show. 30-minute early drop-off available. Lunchtime supervision is available when you sign up for both morning & afternoon media camps that run the same week. Please bring snacks, lunch, and a water bottle.
Animation Fun - Ages 8-11
July 11-15, 1:30-5:00 pm
Learn various styles of stop-motion animation using the iPad. Create your own animation story using Claymation, common objects, paper cut-outs, and whiteboard drawings. You will experiment with sound production, editing, and storytelling and use various techniques to make your animation. 30-minute early drop-off available. Lunchtime supervision is available when you sign up for both morning & afternoon Media camps that run the same week. Please bring snacks, lunch, and a water bottle.
Let's Make a Movie - Ages 12 - 16
July 25-29, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Work through the process of making a short, narrative movie from writing the script, casting the characters, then shooting and editing the final product. You'll learn how to use cameras, audio, lighting, and special effects. By the end of the week, your team will have produced an original short movie. 30-minute early drop-off available. Animation Overdrive - Ages 12-16
June 27-July 1, 9:30 AM - 4:00pm
Discover the diverse world of animation. You will be introduced to several different animation styles, experiment in stop-motion, 2-D, and other forms. You can animate common objects, puppets, and paper cut-outs. Explore sound production, editing, and storytelling before producing an animated short movie. 30-minute early
Let's Make Music Videos - Ages 12-16
August 8 - 12, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Working with local musicians, you will learn to use video and audio equipment and video production techniques for making creative, dynamic music videos. By the end of the week, students will have produced a music video.
